Hi Trish! Wow, studying Bats, that is very cool! I dont know that I have any blogging advice per se, other than pick a topic of interest and ramble on...atleast thats what I kind of do. And it can be addicting! Glad to meet you!

I would say the thing that gets my blogging juices flowing is by reading other people's blogs. Any topic of interest you may have someone is already writing about it. Look for your favorite authors, chances are they have a blog.

You're also supposed to try to keep your entries short but semi regular in frequency, but I have a problem doing that!

Once you start going, you'll begin seeing ideas pop up throughout your day, conversations, news clips, movies. Blogging I think helps you key in to the world, micro or macrocosm, around you.
